So, when Irma decided to pop through, we had this huge dilemma of - what do we do with the horses???
Leave out, bring in, leave out, bring in... I just Could. Not. Decide.
So, after discussing with several hurricane-experienced people, namely my dressage instructor, we decided to leave them out. I guess vets say they see the worst injuries outside, yes, but the most deaths inside stalls during hurricane.
So, that left the conundrum of WHERE? All of our fields have tons of trees! Which is amazing when it's hot and sunny, but not when a hurricane's coming through! The "back 13", which we split into a 5-acre turn out field with the 5-string electric fence line, would be perfect - except for the 5-string electric fence line. So, we took the electric down.
Which meant, we'd have to put it back up. So I thought to myself, well this would be stupid to do every single year / every time there's a hurricane (here comes Nate, possibly!). So, we put up wire mesh (2"x4") instead! The same wire mesh that is the property perimeter, but since we have T-posts up and can't put a wood board on the top, we put a single electric rope along the top.
I really love the new fence line!
